About

THCKT (pronounced thicket) is a design studio primarily focusing on residential design for both remodeling and new construction. As founder and building designer, I (Jessica Chiles) work to address the needs of my clients based on their lifestyles and personal aesthetics while improving the functionality of their homes- in this, the scope of work at THCKT can vary: accommodating anything from wholesale changes to a home’s architecture and space plan, to modest updates to the interior aesthetic. I draw inspiration from mid-century architecture, modern minimalism, and a décor that ranges from internationally eclectic to native Texan to period apropos. Personal taste is unique to every home and homeowner, and I work to ensure my clients homes reflect their own style while paying tribute to the aesthetic and era of the house itself.

I have a professional architecture degree from UT Austin (class of 2009), and I worked independently for small architecture firms doing residential work and hospitality design before founding THCKT in 2014. Since that time, I have worked primarily on remodels and additions for homes built between 1900-1990.  The mission statement of THCKT is to see homes take a new shape, life and energy while adapting them to suit a modern lifestyle.  The building and renovation process can be challenge, but it is my goal to ensure both the design process and the final product make it all worthwhile.
